Hi my name is Beth Lanning. We are a family trying to find adventure in the everyday. My story wasn’t always so adventurous though. One very frustrated mom morning I was trying to make everything “work”. We were knee deep in a home renovation and I had one million things to do. I was slapping together a breakfast for my, then, three year old son. I was trying to sing ABC’s while I made pancakes and thought about what colors to paint the bedrooms. I was preoccupied to say the least. My son tugged at my shirt and asked if he could help. I immediately thought “no” because that’s going to be three more hours, but said “yes” because I was kinda trying. As I helped him up on the counter he took the wooden spoon in his tiny hand and said “mom we are going to have an adventure.” It stopped me in my tracks. No making pancakes was not an adventure to me, it was going to be a chore. However, through his little eyes this was absolutely and adventure. I straightened my attitude up and said “yes its going to be a great cooking adventure.” Y’all, we made the most amazing chocolate chip pancakes and we laughed till I was crying. (It was a giant mess.) Right then and there I made up my mind not to rob my son of new adventures just because I had a very grown up to do list. I have been finding ways to make the everyday into life adventures ever since and we have adopted it as a life motto in our family. I can’t begin to tell you the difference it has made in our little lives to slow down and treat the everyday as our full life long adventure. It’s truly a quest. This site is dedicated to the everyday adventures we take as a family. From the kitchen to the classroom each adventure in life will look different but we are sharing our little moments with you. We are on a journey to be debt free. Currently self building a barndo and custom home on 6 acres in New Mexico. I’m a bit scattered and use this blog to catch all the little pieces of life. I homeschool, cook, create designs and art and do community service work at the local Airforce Base chapel. My husband is a Quantum Physicist that races motorcycles and builds me a home in his spare time (swoon). He loves the outdoors and spending time with family. Our son is free spirted and growing so fast. He is homeschooled and we use Classical Conversations. We have a ton of meet up’s and hikes and mom group adventures. Join along and see the custom curated life we are building.
